Originally the 200-acre engineering and aerospace campus of Ford Aeronutronic (later Ford Aerospace), the site at Ford Road & MacArthur was active from 1957 through 1993. Following the dismantling of the plant and demolition of the industrial buildings, the land was re-zoned for residential use. In the late 1990s Pacific Bay Homes (a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company) developed the guard-gated community known today as One Ford Road.

The surrounding land also hosted the celebrated 1953 Boy Scout National Jamboree on the larger Irvine Ranch expanse that now encompasses Newport Centre — tying the site into a deeper heritage of Orange County’s transformation.
